the Distinguished Service Medal with honour


medal: silver
obverse
A design of the ancient Irish warrior Cuchulainn with upraised sword
standing in a war chariot drawn by two horses at the gallop. A charioteer
crouched beside him whips the horses.

Reverse
Plain with the inscription “An Bonn Seirḃís Dearscna” (The Distinguished
Service Medal) around the outer edges.


ribbon:
35mm wide in dark green with 6mm black centre stripe.


suspension:
Ring affixed to the top of the medal and pin back brooch suspender in the
appropriate metal bearing a design of lozenges.

note:
It was renamed from 1st Class to “Honour” in Jan 1984.
