We're delighted to announce that phase one of our new website has gone live!
Designed and built by Communicraft, the new website features a clean, modern interface, increased capacity for multimedia content and a cross-collection search function.
The new website provides more intuitive user journeys, whether you're looking to conduct family history research, consult our online or reading room archival collections, access our various resources or keep up to date with our news and events. As well as a better user experience, there is now cross-collection searching, a feature that many of our users have expressed a desire for in the past and something reinforced during Communicraft's user research and user testing throughout the site's development.
The new sitewide search includes the Resources, News & Events, most of the Reading Room Collections and the currently searchable Online Collections: Oral Histories Project (20th Century), The Collins Papers (1917 - 1921), Irish Army Census Collection (12 November 1922 - 13 November 1922), and Bureau of Military History (1913 - 1921).
Phase two will see the other online collections added to search and fully integrated into the new website over the coming weeks and months. For now you can visit these online collections and do a local search there: Military Service Pensions Collection (1916 - 1923), Maps, Plans & Drawings Collection (1702 - 2007), The Irish Volunteer (1914 - 1916), The Brigade Activity Reports - Operations (1916 - 1923), An tÓglach Magazine (1918 - 1933), Media Hub (20th Century), Military Archives Image Gallery (20th Century), Military Archives Image Identification Project (20th Century), United Nations Unit Histories (1960 - 1982).
We're really pleased with the new site so far and excited for what's still to come. Be sure to keep an eye out on our social media channels for further announcements and updates soon.
