The May 2024 release is the 16th release of records from the Military Service (1916-1923) Pensions Collection (MSPC). The files relate to claims lodged by 967 individuals/veterans or their dependents and contain new information on the War of Independence and the Civil War. They also provide significant insights into post-conflict lives. The release contains approximately 2,350 new files and brings the total of 19,194 individual entries on the MSPC online database.
Files released in May 2024 include:
- 742 applications lodged by under the Military Service Pensions Act, 1934.
- 104 applications for service pensions under the Military Service Pensions Act, 1924 (National Army applicants).
- 188 applications lodged under the Army Pensions Acts (Special Allowances, wounds, disability and dependants).
Quick Geographical Breakdown:
Among the 967 individuals whose files are being released, 89 individuals had an address in Northern Ireland, 205 in Cork, 181 in Dublin.
49 individuals had an address in England, 51 in the USA, 8 in Scotland, 2 in Canada, and 2 in Australia.
