This collection of files from the Office of the Director of Intelligence, covering the Civil War period and afterwards, is organised into three series: Press Analysis, Military Intelligence, and Compensation Claims.
Series 1,: ‘Press Analysis’ consists of 51 files containing press summaries, press analysis, press cuttings and extracts, intelligence reports on newspaper staff, and surveys of English Press.
Series 2: ‘Military Intelligence’ consists of 69 files containing Command intelligence reports, statistical and detailed summaries of official reports, and other reports sent to Department of Intelligence.
Series 3: ‘Compensation Claims’ consists of 26 files containing claims for compensation and pensions made by ex R.I.C. members, Irregulars, National Army members and Civilians. Files within this collection were either compiled for, or made by, the Office of the Director of Intelligence.
